Happy New Year everyone!
I hope everyone gets a chance to raise a toast of whatever, and look forward to another year of making friends, being happy and working on all our dreams!
A couple of quick notes for January from me:
1. I will be traveling this week starting tomorrow, so will be more out of pocket than normal for support.
2. January will be a busy month, as I'll be working on taxes and a new roadmap for both InWorldz and Halcyon. The roadmap will be discussed in the Feb. Episode for iNewz, so I do encourage anyone and everyone to show up for any questions you may have! I will TRY to post it beforehand, but I make no promises there, as between the taxes, developing the roadmap and my eldest daughter coming to visit, January is pretty packed!
3. The episode for iNewz for January will be on Jan. 10, as long as everything goes to plan on my end!
I also feel it's a good time to mention that Jim has taken on a full-time job. Jim is a bit older than I am, and he needs to start working on his retirement, pension, etc. After a bit of a search, he's found an excellent position and has been there for almost a month already.
This does not mean he's left InWorldz, he is still in a contractor position, much like when he first started with InWorldz (but back then, he was just a volunteer and wasn't paid!), so he'll still be heading up the oversight of the github and maintaining code source for us. It's one of the main reasons he has pulled away from the Forums here, as now that his time is limited, he needs to focus more on his time he can spend on InWorldz.
The other side of Jim having a full-time job, means that budget wise, I can now pick up some projects that need to be worked on and work with other contractors to get them accomplished. We have other devs, they are simply volunteers at this time. But some of the work they are working on for Halcyon and/or InWorldz can be looked at in a more serious light now. This includes some massive work we need on the web side of things.
I'm very excited to see what 2018 will bring us as I've already been talking with another company in regards to getting started on our web side of things, and asking the devs for their input on priorities they'd like to accomplish in 2018.
Tonight, I'll be on for the NY party that we always have, then getting ready to head out tomorrow afternoon. I hope to see many of you there so we can ring in the NY together!
